Description
A Very Fine Quality late 19th/Early 20th C Dayak Mandau Headhunters sword, the blade inlaid with brass and silver 'dots'.This is a powerful and very sturdily made sword, made for jungle terrain and armed combat in which the enemy was decapitated and their heads brought back for both trophy and amuletic purposes. This sword was made to take a head in one blow.
The scabbard contains the usual additional 'pisau raut' side knife used for carving and general purpose work.
Very fine quality antique item.
