Antique German Fencing Foil Rapier Sword, Blade is Marked SOLINGEN
Foil is under 39 5/8" in overall length
Blade is just about 32 1/4 inches.
Handle is wood covered in twine/rope definitely aged
One side of the foil is stamped "Made in Germany", a hall mark, "Solingen" and the same hall mark trademark. See pictures
The other side has S. D. & G. NY stamped on it and then the same hallmark, followed by "Solingen" and the hallmark. The hallmark has a circle A in the middle. The ends of the hallmark are more ornate then the ones in my other listing.
S. D. & G. (
Schoverling, Daly and Gales)
was a large sporting goods store in New York started in 1865 as S. & D. and then in 1877 they had a new partner and the name changed to S. D. & G. they sold out to another store Davega in 1926.
Neat old blade
Tip has tape/covering and and you can see tip pushed through the tape.
Blade has bend toward the end.
