    Description

If you are looking for a large and heavy sword, this bad boy is for you. This was one of the first swords I purchased over 30 years ago, it had been one of my favorite pieces, but it isn't a confirmed American Civil War sword*. Every few years, I come across one like this for sale, and they are never in this nice of condition, so I'm not going to give it away. This is an Italian military sword, but it was made in Germany, and they did a first-class job. There is a section on the blade that shows that there was (blood?) pitting and the blade was repolished, it is my opinion that the whole sword was rebuild during it's lifetime by the Italian military. One line of the wire wrap is missing. I have posted a picture of the pitting on the tip of the blade, it is pitted on both sides and I've shown the worse of the two sides, I ran out of pictures space.
    * Civil War Era Italian Model 1860 Heavy Cavalry Officers Sword with Scabbard. The ricasso is marked "S & K" which stands for Schnitzler & Kirshbaum, sword maker of Solingen, Germany.
Schnitzler & Kirshbaum made swords as early as 1811 and up to 1864. S&K was the first official US contract for military sabers starting in 1840.
There is no proof that these were or weren't imported for the US Civil War but it was made during the Civil War Era!
    Please note:
Please do not make me a "buy it now" offer at a lower price, I don't really care that much if I sell it. These don't go down in value...
Ebay is my hobby, not my business, so I'm slow to answer questions.
I only ship every few days.
