    Description

    Description:
I found this sword at auction in Maryland where I bought a weapon collection.  Included was a range....from a Japanese katana to a Knights of Columbus to a number of WWII and Filipino machetes and other weapons.
I've taken some special pieces for my own collection, and I am putting up for sale some others.
I'm not an expert in swords; I'm just a practitioner of martial arts and like to collect different types of interest or those that help me practice my forms.
Based on my research, this sword appears to be an antique one from the Philippines, although it is unmarked.
The handle is wood and seems to represent an open-mouthed animal.
The overall length is 39” with the blade being 29.25”.
There are no marks on the sword.
The weight is around 1 pound 6.5 ounces.
The last 5” at the tip of the sword has holes in the blade which, according to my teacher in Chinese martial arts, to to prevent sticking.
The top part is unsharpened, while the bottom is sharp...similar to a machete or a Chinese sword.

Most importantly....the tip is slightly curled back. It affects the last 1/8”.  While I'm not an expert, it seems like it can it can probably be sharped off.
At around the 6.5” from the tip, the blade is slightly bowed.
There is some surface rust and pitting.
The wood is pretty smooth which no serious losses.
Although I don't see or feel any chips in the blade, it would certainly be more effective if sharpened.
I do not have a sheath for this sword.
