Description
Russian Kindjal Short-Sword with Sheath - ReproductionThis short-sword is of the Russian pattern, traditionally associated with Cossacks, turn of the 19th-Century Russian irregular cavalry, and the Russian army into the mid-20th century.
The total length of the sword is 23-1/2 inches and is constructed of high-carbon steel by Windless in India which is engraved on the metal near the hilt (see photo).
T
he blade is 17-1/4 inches
long and 1-7/16 inches wide and extends through the hilt in a full tang design, beautifully accenting the wooden and the brass fasteners (see photo). The full length of the hilt is 6-1/2 inches.
The sheath is 20-inches long and is constructed of wood that is wrapped in black leather with beautiful brass appointments. The weight of the sword and sheath combined is 1-pound 7.2 ounces.
This sword was purchased by my husband some twenty plus years ago and it has never been used. It was displayed on the walls of our home until 6-years ago when it was put into storage. This one has never been polished so you'll note that the brass accents on the hilt are tarnished,
giving it somewhat of a rustic look.
Although this is a reproduction, it is of high quality and hard to tell that it's not an original.
