Condition: Very good for a 170 year old item; Fine clean blade with areas of staining and minimal areas of surface rust or pitting plus superficial scratch marks from previous cleanings with probably steel wool (not by me); Some markings on edge from attempted sharpening; Cross guard slightly wobbly; Brass hilt in fine condition; Original leather scabbard in fine condition, somewhat dry, with intact seam, but with a transverse crack around two inches above the brass finial on its obverse side which must be handled with care when sheathing or unsheathing the blade to prevent a complete separation; The brass throat has a few mild dents and can be pulled off the body of the scabbard although with some effort.
