Spanish Fabrica de Toledo saber sabre for Guardia Civil Sergeants M1865 rare

Description

A very scarce Model of 1865 saber for Guardia Civil sergeants made at the Toledo Factory in 1865 and so engraved on the dorsum of the blade ; Civil Guard's GC under crown emblem on the obverse side of the handle and serial number 1056 ; According to B. Barcelo-Rubi in his work " Three Centuries of  Portable Weaponry in Spain", pages 118 and 139, "although there are some who state that this model was adopted at the time of the Civil Guard's founding (1854),we would say it was a prototype, were it not for the fact that,one of the two specimens we have seen, both dated Toledo 1865, had serial number 848" ; He adds that he had also examined two other identical specimens, although with German silver handles, one bearing a "PU" (?
