Vintage Made In India Sword With Blue Velvet Sheath -Lion Head Hilt

For auction is a Vintage Made In India Sword With Blue Velvet Sheath -Lion Head Hilt. Condition is "Used". Sword is 23.5" in total length. Blade is 19.5" and hilt is 4".
Sheath is 21.5". I believe the lions head hilt and sheath end and base is brass but I'm not positive. The sheath appears to be made out of some type of thin wood. The sheath is cracked, please see photo for details. I don't know anything about this sword or it's history.
