Condition: Sword and sheath are steel. The deco is gilded gold coloring in brass. The steel part of the sheath has some art work with the all-seeing eye, a snake around the cross, and more etchings toward the bottom. There are a few minor dents on the steel sheath. Sword is in excellent condition - no rust. The sword is made by the Pettibone Brothers Manufacturing Co., Cincinnati, Ohio. Handle is made of bone - has a crack along the outer edge. Also engraved is the owner's name G. Andrew Brown. Overall length of the sword itself is 34.25". The blade is .75" wide. Also stamped on the sheath is Union Label No. 9.
