Commemorating the 25th. anniversary of the coronation of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II, this sword #76 is one of an authorized issue of 100 swords in 1977. The sword measures 36 3/4" overall with a 30" colichemarde shaped tempered steel blade. The blade has been been specially treated to be impervious to corrosion and retains all its bright mirror polish. The obverse blade is gilt etched "H.M. QUEEN ELIZABETH II / SILVER JUBILEE 1977" while the reverse side of the blade is numbered "38" above the Wilkinson Sword Limited hallmark. The hilt is individually handcrafted of hallmarked 18 karat gold, hallmarked sterling silver more than two carats of diamonds; the shell guard has pierced rose leaf designs and four gold emblems of the United Kingdom countries, the ricasso has a lovely pierced rose leaf design over a scarlet velvet insert. The crossbar ends with button tipped quillons, the grip is composed of alternating bands of solid 18 karat gold and sterling silver with the Royal Arms of Queen Elizabeth II at its center, the knuckle bow is inlaid with 18 karat gold and 25 diamonds one for each year of the queens reign and the pommel is pierced with swirled rose leaves with an 18 karat gold Tudor rose over a scarlet velvet insert.
