Description:
This is a German Model 1856 Officer sword.
Condition:
The sword is in good condition. Pommel and guard are in good shape with signs of light dings. They are all tightly bound with no loose wiggling. Grip is in fair condition. It looks like it has separated from the spine and some of the binding has come loose. Finish has oxidized and no signs of rust. There is no leather finger hoop. It has a guard. Ricasso has
markings on one side. There is etching on the blade, but not the spine. It has a single fuller.
The blade is in good shape with no pitting or rust. It is a slightly curved blade. There are dings / chips on the blade edge. Minor scratches can be seen along the entire length of the blade.
Scabbard is in fair condition and shows signs of average use and wear. There is some light visible rust and some minor scratches. Everything is held together tightly. Ring is firmly attached. There are no markings that we can see.
As with all used items, a light cleaning may be necessary to meet your standards. Please see our photographs for a better understanding of the contents and its condition.
